Whether new to the Washington, DC area or just looking to meet or reconnect with fellow Trojans, we welcome you to our monthly Chapter meetings! Meetings are open to all alumni, friends, and supporters of the purpose and objectives of the Virginia State University Alumni Association and its Washington, DC Chapter.
Monthly Chapter Meetings :
Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from September thru June. (The Chapter is on summer break during the months of July and August).

Membership in both the Virginia State University Alumni Association and its Washington, DC Chapter is all about pride - pride in Virginia State and pride in the ability to enhance the lifelong "Trojan" experience of SERVING, INVOLVING, and INFORMING our alumni, students (current and future), and friends of the University. Chapter Memberships is $60 per year, $30 of which stays with the chapter and $30 goes to the National Alumni Office. You can pay your dues online or download a membership form by checking here. Downloaded forms can be either mailed or brought to the next chapter meeting.
The Washington, DC Chapter is proud of its members. Like many VSU alumni, our membership includes great individuals who posses a host of talents, hobbies, and careers. This section allows the entire VSU community to get to know our fellow Chapter members alittle better and learn more about their experiences both at VSU and here in the Washington, DC area.

First job after college: I was a substitute teacher with the East Hartford Public School system and Reservation Sales Agent with American Airlines for about a year. I went on to work for Cigna Corporation as a Benefits Administrator.
Current position held: I currently work for Capital One Bank as an IT project manager/Scrum master.
How long have you been active with the Chapter: I have been active with the Chapter since 2002.
What positions have you held within the Chapter: I am currently the Chapter's Financial Secretary. I am a member of the Scholarship Committee and also chaired the Christmas Party from 2005-2010.
Professional Memberships/Community Involvement: Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. - DC Chapter. Member of the nominating committee (2009); Co-chair of the 90th Anniversary Committee (2010); V endor chairperson for Delta Founder's Day (2012-2014); Co-Chair Public Meeting (2014) and m ember of the National Pan Hellenic Council - DC Chapter (2014).
I am also a member of the Professional Travel Agents of North America - MD Chapter. There I have served as Vice President (2010 - 2012); Corresponding Secretary (2012- present); and the Sunshine chairperson (2012 - present)

First job after college: U.S. Army - 2nd Lt. First assignment was as psychologist in Armed Forces Recruiting and Induction Station, Bangor, Maine.
Last position held: Chief, Information Services Branch, US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
How long have you been active with the Chapter: Since 1976
What positions have you held within the Chapter: I have served as Chapter President and Parliamentarian. I've also Chaired the following committees: Membership, Scholarship, Scholarship Dinner Dance, and Scholarship Golf Tournament.
Professional Memberships/Community Involvement: Life Member of the VSU Alumni Association; The ROCKs, and the Military Officers Association of America. Charter member and past President and Director of the American Society of Access Professionals (ASAP). Former Treasurer of the the Sunrise Homeowners Association.

How long have you been active with the Chapter: I have been active with the Chapter for more than 26 years.
What positions have you held within the Chapter: I served as Chapter Treasurer for 12 years. I have also served on various committees to include serving as Chair, Scholarship Committee and Co-Chair, Raffle Committee. I am also the liason between the Chapter and the George Meany Center regarding our meeting space.
Professional Memberships/Community Involvement: Member of The People's Community Baptist Church; the Snowden's Mill Homeowners Association (Silver Spring, MD); and the AFL-CIO Retirees Association.

How long have you been active with the Chapter: I have been active with the Chapter since 2005.
What positions have you held within the Chapter: Prior to becoming Chapter President, I co-chaired the Recruitment; Holiday Party; and Scholarship Committees. I also currently serve as the Chapter's Board Representative to the National VSU Alumni Association and in this capacity I serve as the Association's National President.
Professional Memberships/Community Involvement: Member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity, Inc.; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc,; and Iconic Lodge No. 17 Prince Hall Freemasonry.

Last position held: Deputy Director (GS-15), Special Access Programs Policy, Office of Assistant Secretary of Defense (Security and Intelligence Operations)/Security Directorate, The Pentagon, Washington, DC. Retired in 1984 as a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel.
How long have you been active with the Chapter: I have been active with the Chapter for about 34 years.
What positions have you held within the Chapter: I have served as Parliamentarian and member of the Scholarship Committee. I chaired the special committee that revised the Chapter's By-Laws in May 2008. I now disseminate selected information concerning Chapter members and other VSU alumni to enhance alumni awareness of VSU and VSU-related matters.
